![]() One window had a top down of the map discovered so far, another window had a first person view of the corridor you were in, one showed your gear, one showed text messages etc. Graphics/art style: Windows UI, very simplistic. It was possible to get quests from a guild in town that you could complete for rewards.Įstimated year of release: I played it around 98-99, though could have been slightly earlier Grid map dungeon, but the dungeon map was fixed (not procedurally generated. Genre: turn-based RPG, felt similar a Moria/Angband but with windows graphics, in that there was a town and a dungeon beneath it. Platform(s): I played it on my Win98 PC at the time Cartoonish with bright colors and builder block type buildings in the back ground. Graphics/art style: Third person - traveled via an overview map where you click on locations (treasure map style) playable scenes were straight on like Super Smash Bros or Mortal Kombat. Now that i think about it i want to say it was called something like 'Odd Job Jim' but still couldn't find anything It leaned into outrageous humor so i wouldn't be surprised if, idk, you had to fight giant rat in NYC but i believe most of the time it was caricatures of shady people. But if he cussed, a car horn went off or funny graphics covered it - that sort of thing. The MC is clearly a shady guy who's always looking for odd jobs and i believe all the characters and places you go match that theme (like if you go to Cali, you'd be in DTLA). I was kid and didn't understand most of what i saw but idt it's outright R-rated, tho very suggestive. Can't remember any other scenes unfortunately. i only remember losing and the final scene is something like the MC showing up in front of the venue in his shitty car full of stuff and a guy coming on screen to yell "YOU'RE FIRED" and then he dips lol (Edit: Actually i think it starts with the MC getting physically kicked out onto the streets in front of the venue). I'm pretty sure he's traveling from East to West and the gameplay involves visiting the major cities along the way to pick up certain items, so i'm leaning towards the delivery plot.īased on what i recall of the last scene, and the general vibes of the game, I'm thinking he was trying to get to Las Vegas for some D-rate Vegas show. You have a time limit on how fast you get to the gig (finish the game) before you get fired and the guy who hired you refuses to pay. Plot: You play - and the story is centered around - a seedy, middle aged guy who's broke as hell and trying to get to a specific big city in the US for a gig/job/delivery. This is a childhood computer game that i've been dying to find again so any help is appreciated!! Even tho i played it as a kid, I'm pretty sure it's PG-13 or more. ![]()
